Start a Springtime Bike Habit with Commuter Connect’s Bike Guide Program

May is National Bike Month and it has never been a better time to start a regular bike habit! According to research led by University of Oxford transportation professor Christian Brand, choosing to bike rather than drive just once a day can reduce an average citizen’s carbon emission by 67%. This would significantly improve the air quality in areas like Central Indiana.

The benefits of biking regularly don’t end with the environment. Biking is proven to improve cardiovascular functioning, which supports your heart, lungs and brain. Like many other forms of exercise, biking triggers the release of endorphins, the “feel good” chemicals in your brain. In other words, biking is a mood booster!

Still not convinced to bike instead of drive? Biking can save you nearly $1000 every year and helps you avoid time-consuming traffic.

With more bike trails and bike lanes in our area than ever before, it’s a perfect time to start riding. But you might not know how to start a habit or which bike trails to ride.

That’s why Commuter Connect and Bike Indianapolis have teamed up to launch our Bike Guide Program for new riders. When you sign up, you will be paired with an experienced rider trained by Bike Indianapolis who will work with you one-on-one to plan safe and efficient bike routes all over Central Indiana, for FREE!

Bike guides can help you whether you’re looking to ride leisurely or establish a regular bike commute. They’ll give advice on your route to work, where to park your bike and how to transport work items.

After working with our bike guides, you’ll feel more confident and prepared to trade your four wheels for two wheels! To get started, sign up for the Bike Guide Program here.

And if you haven’t already, register with Commuter Connect to learn about our latest initiatives like the Bike Guide Program and School Pool. Our team is here to help you!
