IndyGo connection moving to Lafayette Square; new stops will serve new large employers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA) is improving its Whitestown Connector route and schedule to make the service more convenient, safer and more efficient.
Workforce Connectors fill the gap between IndyGo bus stops in Marion County and e-commerce fulfillment centers with good-paying jobs in Whitestown, as well as Plainfield. The Workforce Connectors operate six days a week, and are free for riders.
Effective June 2, 2025:
- The Whitestown Connector connection point with IndyGo is moving from Trader’s Point Shopping Center to Lafayette Square Mall to make it accessible from two routes (37 and 38) rather than one.
- Several stops will relocate to increase convenience and safety for riders, and to give riders better access to new large employers in the area.
“We’re moving the stops to keep up with rapid development in Whitestown and bring workers as close to employers as possible, and the new connection point at Lafayette Square will be easier to access for more riders,” said Jennifer Gebhard, executive director of CIRTA.
Funding for the Workforce Connectors comes from private businesses in the Whitestown Economic Improvement District.
“Whitestown is experiencing significant growth, and this transportation service and the route enhancements will help to deliver more workers to the businesses here,” said Todd Barker, director of development services with the Town of Whitestown.
Changes to the current Whitestown route:
- Stop 1 will be relocated to IndyGo’s Lafayette Square Mall stop that’s on the east side of Lafayette Road nearest the mall (Stop ID 10307).
- Stops 2, 3, 5 and 15 will be eliminated due to low ridership.
- Stop 4 will move across the street and closer to the intersection.
- Stops 6, 7 and 8 will move across the street.
- Stop 9 will move down the street but remain on the same side of the street.
- A new stop is being added near the Shein distribution center.
A public hearing to review these changes will take place May 8 at noon at CIRTA, 320 N. Meridian St., #920, Indianapolis, IN 46202. The meeting will be available virtually via Zoom at this link:
