Fixed route bus service is available in several Central Indiana communities. Below is a list of providers by county.


CATS – City of Anderson Transportation System
CATS offers six fixed routes within the City of Anderson. Buses operate Monday through Saturday on all but seven holidays.

Hoosier Ride offers weekday service connecting Anderson with downtown Indianapolis in the mornings and evenings.


IndyGo – Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation
With 31 fixed routes and more than 4,000 bus stops throughout Indianapolis, IndyGo takes you where you need to be. So, hop a bus to catch a flight, get to class, get to work or just get out on the town.

Bus service to Indianapolis International Airport
IndyGo Route 8 provides affordable, frequent public transportation connecting Indianapolis with the airport.

South Plainfield Connector offers weekday service between the westside of Indianapolis (via IndyGo Route 8 – Washington St) and the warehousing/industrial park district of Plainfield, including Metropolis Mall.

North Plainfield Connector offers weekday service between the westside of Indianapolis (via IndyGo Route 8 – Washington St) and the Allpoints Midwest industrial park in North Plainfield/Avon.


Whitestown Connector offers weekday and Saturday service between the northwest side of Indianapolis (via IndyGo Route 37 – Park 100 and Route 86 – 86th St Crosstown at the Traders Point Shopping Center) and the Allpoints at Anson industrial park in Whitestown.


Access Johnson County offers fixed route service in Greenwood, Whiteland and Franklin. These routes connect with IndyGo Routes 16, 22 and 31.


MITS – Muncie Indiana Transit System
MITS provides fixed route bus transportation within the Muncie city limits. Fifteen routes provide service Monday through Saturday on all but six holidays.

Hoosier Ride offers weekday service connecting Muncie with downtown Indianapolis in the mornings and evenings. Other connections available to Evansville, South Bend, Terre Haute, Vincennes, Bloomington, Ft. Wayne, Gary, Anderson and more.


The ShelbyGo Loop circulates on weekdays in Shelbyville.


Transportation From IUPUI to IU Bloomington – Open to the Public
The Campus Commute Shuttle runs four trips each weekday between the two campuses, offering a wheelchair accessible and environmentally-friendly travel option for faculty, staff, students and the general public. The shuttle service provides a number of benefits, including Wi-Fi, electrical outlets, reclining seats, a lavatory, DirecTV and Double Map—a real-time, bus-tracking interactive map. Private companies offering intercity bus service within Indiana include Miller Trailways’ Hoosier Ride, Megabus, and Greyhound.


Intercity rail service and connecting thruway bus services to locations in Indiana and other destinations is offered by Amtrak.

Most of Central Indiana’s rural and suburban areas offer to-your-door transportation options through on-demand (reservation-based) transit providers.
