County Connect provides information to Central Indiana residents on the programs and agencies that travel across county lines – including which agencies provide services for seniors or people with disabilities.
In addition, County Connect brings together a regional network of transportation providers and community partners who meet quarterly to collaborate, share best practices, identify barriers, and develop solutions to improve mobility across Central Indiana. This collaborative effort has led to innovative initiatives such as One-Call Connect, which was created to address gaps in cross-county transportation services.
Organizations interested in participating in County Connect quarterly meetings are encouraged to contact Mobility Manager Amanda Meyer at ameyer@cirta.us.

Many of the public transit providers in Central Indiana’s suburban and rural counties operate demand-response transportation. This type of transportation is sometimes called “dial-a-ride” and requires the passenger to call in advance to set up a reservation for transportation service. At the pre-arranged date and time, the driver will pick up the passenger and take them to their destination. Sometimes, the ride is shared with other passengers.
Demand-response transportation is offered to the general public in most Central Indiana rural and suburban areas.
Fixed route transportation is operated along a prescribed route according to a fixed schedule. Other examples of fixed route transportation in Central Indiana are Access Johnson County Public Transit, City of Anderson Transit System (CATS), Muncie Indiana Transit System (MITS), Whitestown Connector and Plainfield Connector.
